Question 1

Is StrategyAlly a strategic plan template or a strategic planning guide?

Accepted Answer

Both, and it is automated. A downloaded strategic plan template gives you empty boxes; a written guide tells you what to do but leaves you to do it. StrategyAlly asks the structured questions in order, gathers stakeholder input, analyzes your uploaded data, and then fills in every section of the plan template, including the executive summary, vision, mission, SWOT, priorities, SMART goals, measurements, and strategic initiatives, with your organization's own evidence. You edit, approve, brand, and export the finished document.

Question 2

Does the AI write our strategic plan for us?

Accepted Answer

No, and that's the point. StrategyAlly is human-driven and AI-facilitated. Your board, staff, donors, clients, and community partners provide the insight through surveys, focus groups, your uploaded data, and guided questions. The AI automates the processing: it synthesizes that real input into a draft. Your team then reviews, edits, and approves every word before the plan is final.

Question 3

Why not just use a general AI chatbot to draft our strategic plan?

Accepted Answer

Because a general chatbot only knows what you type into it. Left to its own devices, it produces a polished but generic plan, with the same priorities and the same language every other organization gets, and no connection to your actual situation. StrategyAlly exists to close that gap. It gathers your real data, anonymous stakeholder surveys, focus group themes, and your committee's ranked decisions, analyzes all of it, and grounds every section of your plan in your organization's own evidence. It then structures the same thinking a good facilitator would: SWOT, priorities, SMART goals, measurements, and strategic initiatives, in an editable document your board approves. The chatbot gives you words; StrategyAlly gives you a process and a plan built on what is actually true about your organization.

Question 4

How is this different from hiring a consulting firm?

Accepted Answer

A traditional engagement typically costs $20,000 or more and takes months, with outside consultants interviewing your stakeholders and interpreting what they hear. StrategyAlly gives you the same disciplined structure, including data analysis, stakeholder input, a facilitated SWOT, prioritization, and a board-ready plan, for a small fraction of the cost and in a matter of days. The people closest to your mission stay in control the whole way.

Question 5

What does it cost?

Accepted Answer

You can create an account and complete the substantive strategic planning process for free. When your strategy is ready, StrategyAlly is $49/month, billed annually at $588. That unlocks your completed board-ready plan, branded export, the StrategyAlly management dashboard, anytime plan updates, and new plan building. The membership renews automatically each year unless you cancel before renewal. It is a tiny fraction of the $20,000 or more a strategic planning consulting firm would charge for the same plan.

Question 6

What is the “Always-On StrategyAlly”?

Accepted Answer

It is the ongoing management included with your completed strategic plan purchase. Your finished plan loads straight into a management dashboard, where every goal and key activity gets an owner and a due date. You get clear owners and clear next steps. You enter performance data monthly, quarterly, or annually, generate board-ready progress reports, receive reminders before work comes due, and refresh the plan whenever your situation changes. A consultant hands over a binder and leaves; StrategyAlly keeps working the plan with you.

Question 7

How do team assignments work?

Accepted Answer

You assign each goal or key activity to a team member by email, with a due date and a reporting frequency. They get an email and sign in with that email address under your organization's subscription, with no separate purchase required, to update status and post progress notes. You see everything, and who owns what, in one view.

Question 8

How does a plan refresh work?

Accepted Answer

Any time, not just annually, StrategyAlly asks a short set of prompts: what has changed in your environment, whether you are on or off track, what results you are seeing, what new risks have appeared, and what your team wants to do differently. Combined with your performance data, it tells you what still holds and what to adjust, retire, or add, and your team decides what to accept.

Question 9

What happens if we cancel or a renewal payment fails?

Accepted Answer

If you cancel, automatic renewal stops and your access continues through the end of the term already paid. If a renewal payment fails, the payment provider retries the charge and StrategyAlly shows a payment notice while access continues during that retry period. When the paid term and retry period end, plan and management access expire until an organization admin reactivates the subscription. Your stored planning work is not deleted, and previously downloaded files remain yours.

Question 10

Can our whole board or committee participate?

Accepted Answer

Yes. StrategyAlly creates structured ways for your team or committee to contribute, whether you are a small staff or a big board committee. Every stage includes a printable Strategic Planning Committee Guide with a 60-minute agenda, discussion prompts, and space to record the group's decisions. The guides for the SWOT, priorities, and plan draft stages are written specifically for your organization based on the input gathered so far.

Question 11

How do stakeholder surveys work?

Accepted Answer

You create a survey with AI-drafted questions tailored to your organization, then share a link. Responses are anonymous but tagged by audience, such as board, staff, donors, clients, or community partners, so you can see how different groups view the organization. You can run multiple surveys for different audiences, and every response feeds into the analysis.

Question 12

What about focus groups?

Accepted Answer

Tell StrategyAlly who will be in the room and it drafts a facilitator guide with warm-up, timed discussion questions, and note-taking instructions. After the session, upload your notes (or paste them in) and the tool returns themes with supporting quotes, points of agreement, and tensions, alongside your survey findings.

Question 13

What kind of data can we upload?

Accepted Answer

Whatever tells your organization's story: financials, donor data, client demographics, program outcomes, past plans, community and economic context. Each file is summarized and the patterns are carried into your SWOT, priorities, and plan.

Question 14

Is our data private?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each organization has its own account, and your files, survey results, and plans are visible only to your organization. Survey respondents remain anonymous. Your data is processed only to generate your plan and reports within your account; it is not used to train or improve any AI models, and it is not shared with or sold to third parties.

Question 15

Is StrategyAlly SOC 2 compliant? What about other security standards?

Accepted Answer

We do not make compliance claims about StrategyAlly itself. Instead, StrategyAlly is built entirely on infrastructure provided by SOC 2 Type II compliant service providers, including Lovable and Supabase. Supabase, which hosts and secures your data, is also ISO 27001 certified and GDPR compliant. Payments are processed by Stripe, which maintains PCI DSS Level 1 compliance. In plain terms: your plan, files, and survey responses sit on infrastructure that has been independently audited against the security standards large organizations and funders expect.

Question 16

Can the final plan match our branding?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Upload your brand guide, logo, colors, and fonts, and both your strategic plan and SWOT report export on-brand, ready for the board packet.

Question 17

How long does the process take?

Accepted Answer

Most organizations move from setup to a board-ready draft in days rather than months. The pace is yours: surveys and focus groups run on your schedule, and each stage unlocks as soon as its input is in.
